Since adopting the wetland, JGSOC has organized regular clean-up drives to clear the area of solid waste and debris. These efforts have involved barangay officials, the local environment and natural resources office, youth groups, law enforcement, non-government organizations, schools, and community residents. To date, approximately 1,223 kilos of trash and debris have been cleared from the area.

In February of this year, World Wetlands Day was celebrated with a clean-up activity. JGSOC and DENR also installed new markers and educational signage leading to the wetlands area and the biodiversity center, which houses a tree nursery.

A major element of the initiative is the continued public awareness campaigns through various activities with the community and schools. One such activity is the annual poster-making contest, which saw participation from 25 students from several elementary and high schools across Boracay Island. This contest not only showcases the artistic talents of the youth but also emphasizes the importance of environmental sustainability.

The Adopt-A-Wetland project is in its 6th year in 2025.  The continued rehabilitation of Wetland No. 8 is a testament to the power of collaborative efforts in promoting ecological sustainability. The progress made over the past years has not only restored the wetland but also fostered a strong sense of community and environmental stewardship among the residents of Boracay. The local community is empowered to maintain the momentum and continue their efforts to protect and preserve Boracay’s natural beauty for generations to come.
