In response to the recent typhoons and monsoon rains that swept across Luzon and parts of Visayas last July, JG Summit Olefins Corporation (JGSOC) mobilized its Community Relations Team and employee volunteers to support neighboring communities in Batangas City that were severely affected by the calamity.
Over the course of three days, the team—led by Mr. Ralph Joseph S. Roy, Director for Government Affairs, Community Relations & Security—worked closely with local barangay officials to distribute approximately 1,250 relief packs to families in Barangays Simlong, Pinamucan Ibaba, and Pinamucan Proper. This initiative reflects JGSOC’s ongoing commitment to being a responsive and compassionate neighbor, especially in times of need.
“We recognize the hardships brought about by the recent severe weather conditions, especially for our community members whose livelihoods depend on fishing,” said Roy. “At JGSOC, we remain committed to being within reach of our host communities—true to our corporate social responsibility initiative, Abot Kamay. We hope this small act of solidarity brings comfort and hope during these trying times.”
The active participation of more than 20 employee volunteers was central to the success of the relief effort. Their time, energy, and compassion exemplify the spirit of Malasakit—a core value that continues to thrive within the organization.
JGSOC remains guided by its values of Malasakit and shared responsibility, ready to lend a helping hand where and when it matters most. We thank our volunteers for making a meaningful difference in the lives of others.
