Project Libro: JGSOC and GBF’s Brigada Eskwela in Batangas City
In line with its commitment to uplift communities through education, JG Summit Olefins Corporation (JGSOC), in partnership with the Gokongwei Brothers Foundation (GBF), brought Brigada Eskwela to life through Project Libro, a literacy outreach activity held in Batangas City.
Rooted in JGSOC’s core value of Malasakit, Project Libro aims to support young learners by enhancing access to quality reading materials and creating joyful learning experiences. This initiative reflects the shared mission of JGSOC and GBF to empower communities through education and meaningful engagement.
To enrich the program and deepen its impact, GBF—whose mission includes supporting community-based education—donated hundreds of books and essential school supplies. These resources were thoughtfully curated to inspire imagination and encourage a lifelong love for reading.
On August 27 and 28, 2025, 30 passionate employee-volunteers from JGSOC brought the spirit of Malasakit to life at Simlong Elementary School and Mabacong Elementary School in Batangas City. Classrooms were transformed into vibrant learning hubs filled with storytelling, role-playing, literacy games, and interactive reading sessions. In an age dominated by screens and digital distractions, it was heartening to witness the students’ genuine excitement as they discovered new words, characters, and worlds through books.

For several years now, JGSOC and its partners have been conducting Brigada Eskwela activities in its host communities in Batangas City, under the umbrella of its “Abot Kamay” social responsibility initiatives. Project Libro is a testament to our belief that small acts of Malasakit—when done with purpose and heart—can leave a lasting impact.
