SportsFest 2025 Wraps Up: Stronger Together, On and Off the Court
The annual JGSOC SportsFest has officially come to a close—but the energy, camaraderie, and connections it sparked continue well beyond the final whistle.
SportsFest 2025, a joint wellness initiative for employees of JG Summit Olefins Corporation (JGSOC), Peak Fuel, Merbau, and GoGBS assigned to the Batangas manufacturing plant, concluded with a vibrant closing ceremony on March 11, 2026. Designed to strengthen teamwork, promote employee well-being, and foster a positive workplace culture, this year’s SportsFest brought together around 200 employees through friendly competition, movement, and shared experiences.
Officially launched in December 2025, all SportsFest activities were held at the PEOPLE Hub—a space built by employees, for employees, and envisioned as a center for recreation, wellness, and connection. The program featured a diverse mix of team sports, racket sports, individual events, and wellness activities, allowing employees to participate based on their interests, skill levels, and availability.
During the program’s opening, Ms. Nene A. GuicoComia, Plant Head, highlighted the deeper purpose behind both the SportsFest and the PEOPLE Hub, underscoring their role in strengthening engagement, collaboration, and well-being across teams.
Celebrating Achievement, Sportsmanship, and Unity
The closing ceremony served as a celebration of collective effort, sportsmanship, and unity. Teams proudly wore their official group uniforms as awards were presented across various sports categories, recognizing not only athletic excellence but also the shared spirit that defined the season.
Reflecting on the experience, Dominic Gonzales from the Operations Group, this year’s Volleyball Season MVP, shared:
“Having the opportunity to engage in sports within the company was a refreshing reminder of the importance of worklife balance. The most rewarding aspect was the genuine socialization—it broke down barriers and allowed us to interact with the JGSOC family in a fun, highenergy environment. It wasn’t just about winning; it was about building bridges and friendships that make our workplace feel like a community.”
During the program, Mr. Paul Bowdler, Senior Technical Adviser, reminded employees that the close of SportsFest should not signal the end of activity at the PEOPLE Hub. He encouraged everyone to continue using the facility to prioritize health, explore enjoyable activities, and stay consistent in their wellness journeys. He also expressed appreciation to the Manufacturing Leadership Team for pioneering the PEOPLE Hub and supporting its continued improvement.
As SportsFest 2025 comes to a close, the message is clear: while the games may be over, the culture of teamwork, wellness, and connection continues—on and off the court.
